On 8 August 2023, Professor Stephen Meyers from the Washington University and Dr. Daisy Huang Shixin from Lingnan University visited RAHK to learn about our work and services. In addition to their teaching roles, both scholars have focused on disability research over the years, including development of rehabilitation institutions, promotion of inclusivity, equality, and rights, actively engaging with disability organisations in various regions.
Members Joseph Kwan Kwok Lok and Jenny Lo Man Chun, along with General Secretary William Chan Hei Lung, welcomed Professor Stephen Meyers from the United States and Dr. Huang from Lingnan University at the Chan Fuk Sing Resource Centre. We introduced RAHK’s service philosophy, key work, and projects, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of our unique approach, such as our “community-centric” advocacy strategy and the operation of social enterprise convenience stores to promote employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Over the years, we have trained numerous individuals with disabilities.
They engaged in extensive discussions and exchanges with us, expressing their support for our principles and work. They expressed hope for future collaborations and exchanges between the Washington University, Lingnan University , and the RAHK.
