Social Enterprise Work of RAHK
Through operating social enterprises, we aim to showcase the work capabilities of individuals with disabilities to the general public, emphasising that they are no different from anyone else. This provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to excel in their roles, unleash their potential, and work alongside able-bodied individuals, fostering mutual understanding and promoting inclusivity. All profits generated from these enterprises are allocated towards various rehabilitation efforts. This year, RAHK actively participated in various seminars and lectures to enhance the services and image of our social enterprises, hoping to empower disadvantaged communities through these initiatives.
7-Eleven Social Enterprise Store by RAHK
We operate a 7-Eleven Social Enterprise Store. By running the store, we aim to showcase the work capabilities of individuals with disabilities to the public, highlighting their equal competence. This setup enables individuals with disabilities to excel in their roles, work alongside able-bodied individuals, deepen mutual understanding, promote inclusivity, and allocate profits towards rehabilitation initiatives. In the days to come, we will continue to create more employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and spread the message of inclusivity.
Continued Promotion of Successful Social Enterprise Experiences by RAHK
Having operated social enterprises for nearly three decades, the PolyU 7-Eleven Social Enterprise Store stands as a first-generation social enterprise. We have established a collaborative model involving the social welfare sector, higher education institutions, the business sector, and government partners, significantly contributing to the employment of individuals with disabilities. Over the years, we have trained hundreds of individuals with disabilities, with some successfully reintegrating into the mainstream job market and thriving. We will persist in promoting our successful experiences to raise awareness and garner support for our work.
Centric Support for Disabled Employees to Adapt to Work
Our convenience store promotes inclusivity by welcoming individuals with disabilities of various types and degrees to work within the store. Understanding that different disabilities entail different needs and potential differences in work performance, we respect these distinctions. Therefore, in the learning and work arrangement processes, we maintain flexibility and a people-centred approach, providing support and work adjustments based on the abilities and adaptation progress of individuals with disabilities to help them thrive in their roles.
