On 20 January, we hosted the Horticultural Joy: Indigo Dyeing Workshop as part of our Horticultural Joy series. The instructor of A Piece Of Wood Leisure Farm guided our members in creating indigo-dyed scarves and cloth bags.
Through the workshop, members learned that indigo dyeing is a craft that uses natural dyes to colour fabrics blue, and they also learned that the used dye can be beneficial for soil improvement and crop growth.
The instructor taught members various pattern-making techniques, and members added their own ideas and creativity to create beautiful compositions with different patterns.
During the workshop, members actively asked questions, and the instructor patiently answered each one, encouraging members to try boldly and often stating, “There is no failure in indigo dyeing”.
Members thoroughly enjoyed the process, expressing themselves through indigo dyeing, with each finished product representing their ideas and creativity. Members cherished their handcrafted pieces with great satisfaction and joy!
